I’m excited to share with you my collaboration with Salty Sailor & Co – handmade cutting boards. The owner of the company, Paige was a guest at our farmhouse & cooking school years ago and began selling these heavy duty, handmade boards after she discovered them on a trip to Slovenia while staying at a “magical little guest house”. Totally obsessed, she started Salty Sailor & Co to share her love the beautiful craftsmanship made with non-viable fruit trees! If you follow me on instagram you my recognize these cutting boards already! The ‘collaboration’ is really friends, helping friends – Paige sent me a few boards to photograph for her website and I just can’t help but share the first photos …
So sweet, they arrived tied up in string and freshly oiled, ready to be put to use. Complete with a seal of approval from an iron wood burning brand.
My favorite part is that you can not only use them for a cutting board, but flip it over and there is a nice edge to use it as a serving board as well! These are heirloom pieces for sure. I just love the weight in you hand too.
You can find these unique one of a kind pieces on Etsy or Amazon Homemade. I sure am happy Paige visited that “magical little guest house” years ago and has shared a few of these boards with me to use in our kitchen and farmhouse – I’m finding endless ways to utilize them: from shelling peas, to arranging wild flowers to serving crostini and antipasti, prepping dessert… (and I still have so much to photograph!)
And for fun I made this with our homegrown cherries & strawberries:
I already know what’s next to photograph – our homemade/homecured salami & sausages with local cheeses…I just never have time to pull out the camera when we do this, I’m too busy slicing more meat!
